CIR bits have existed for decades. They are simple, reliable, and operate using the low-pressure air already available at most job sites — 0.5 to 1.0 MPa, nothing fancy. That is why they remain widely used: water wells, mining, quarrying, construction. The design has changed little over the years, but the difference between a good CIR bit and a mediocre one still lies in the details.
